THE LOTTERY
We won the lottery !!!!! The door and window covering lottery that is. Our house has those doors with the panes of glass in them. The back door has nine panes and the mud room door has 6. We have been racking our brains to figure out how to cover them. We do a lot of brain racking around here. That can be dangerous cause we really don't have much brain between the two of us to spare !!
Anyway, back to the lottery. We found at Lowe's these frames with plexiglass with mini blinds built into them. They fit over the existing panes of glass and use existing screws and screw holes. And they look wonderful ! And easy to assemble according to AH. That was a biggie !
OVERWORKED JEWELRY
I make some of my jewelry do double duty around here. I have a long gold beaded necklace that can be used in various configurations while wearing. Since my master bath colors are antique white, gold and silver - I use the necklace in the bath as a decorating item until I want to wear it - then I'll put it back in the bath. My bedroom is Victorian with a lot of lace, pearls and crocheted items. I drape my long and short pearl necklaces all over the place. Double duty !!!!!

Just some talk . . . . .
Just got back from town gathering the weeks supplies. Got some peppers and some more fruit. I have a new receipe to try that I got from a co-worker. I am going to fix it today for suppers through out the week. And as usual she will get full credit.
This has been a weekend of getting a lot of household projects done. I have already mentioned the mini room dividers we are going to make. I just got in from weeding a long, narrow patch of dirt that we created when we added sidewalks. We have been scratching our brains on how to landscape it. We have decided on ground cover. I decided to get out there and weed it while the shade was on that side. Got through and then decided that we had better fill in with some more dirt there ! Aaaaaagggghhhh ! Could have saved that sweat !
Speaking of sweat - a friend of mine who is a Texas transplant from California remarked last night how she never used to sweat until she got to Texas. After explaining the wonder of humidity - I told her it was actually good. The moisture was good for the skin and would make her look younger. I told her I was actually 105 !
From time to time I am going to post some decorating tips that I come up with. I hope they help. They might seem crazy but they work.

Potatoes and Chicken Microwave Bake
This one I love and it is delicious !
2 boxes of boxed potatoes (any flavor - I like Au Gratin the best)
Canned or fresh boiled chicken. (If fresh boiled - dice or shred chicken.) Qty. depends on you. I use canned for convenience.
Spray microwave safe dish.
Pour in potatoes, sauce powder and chicken - pour in water to cover.
Cook for about 15 minutes in mircowave or until potatoes are done.
Stop microwave about every 5 minutes and stir and check to make sure they are not getting too dry.
If they are, pour in more water.
Add ins:
Corn
Ro-tel tomatoes
Peas
Green Beans
Onions
Hot peppers, green chilies, poblano or jalapeno
Bell peppers - green, yellow or red
Again, whatever you want
Hmmmmm!

Took a little break:
Popped in the shop to check on Pop (AH) in the shop. He is trying to get the rest of our household items that are not going into the new house out of there so we can start a new project. We are making a mini room divider to fit an oblong window in the shower in the guest bath. We are doing that in lieu of curtains or anything else. I will send you the results later (pictures and all hopefully !)
Checked my fig trees for any ripe ones. My first crop of the season are taking FOREVER !
Saw that I forgot (conveniently) to put the clothes in the dryer.
Now,
One more recipe and then I will call it a day.

The Endless Choice Steamer Pot
You can make as much of this or as little. I am going to give general instructions - you can decide what amount is good for you. I usually cook for just two with enough for leftovers for a couple of days. I have two small steamers so proportion the amounts to fit your steamer. Sometimes I get too busy chopping and have to use both pots !
Be sure and spray pots with cooking spray. /Clean up will be easier.
1 pkg. of (cooked or uncooked) cased sausage (any brand, any degree of heat) cut diagonally into 1 - 2 in. pieces.
4-5 potatoes - cut into chunks
Layer sausage and potatoes, seasoning each layer with your choice of seasonings.
Options to include:
Sliced onions (as much as you want)
Sliced bell peppers (again, as much as you want)
Corn (I like frozen veggies)
Green beans
Carrots
Asparagus
Sprinkled parmesan, cheddar or any other cheese (add last and only after turning off burner and take lid off so cheese does not melt to nothing)
The choices are endless
It only takes about 15 minutes after water starts boiling to finish. Steaming is a very quick method of cooking. When the potatoes are done - the dish is done.
AH like ketchup on EVERYTHING - so for you ketchup lovers - go crazy !
I like BBQ sauce myself !

In this first post . . . . . let me explain . . . . .
In this first post I am going to explain my cooking style and just visit for a while. I first off want to say that I owe my decision to blog to an old high school friend that I recently reconnected with. She is a Christian Blogger with an excellent blog - Truth in the Morning - which is very good and very spiritural. She also has a cooking blog called - Food Tweaked A Bit. So check out her blogs and sign in as a follower. I think you will enjoy them. I hope she does not think I am copying her - only that I was inspired by her.
When I first started thinking about creating a blog - I hesitated because I thought - Okay, I am not that interesting of a person so what in the world could I write about that other people might find interesting. My life is pretty simple (okay - downright boring) but I do need to eat so I learned to cook and I feel like I learned it pretty well. Of course, AH (remember him - my significant other) has been my best guinea pig (clear throat) - fan.
I like to call myself the "One Dish Queen", If it can be fixed simply and in one pot - I am so there. I like to take box dinners and add to them so that they taste like an original creation ! My favorite friend is Ro-Tel Tomatoes (of course, the hot variety !). AH and I like our food spicy so I love cooking with hot peppers of all kinds. I like to grow my own and usually have a good enough harvest from my home garden each week to do just that.
I recently started trying to "healthy" my recipes and also practice portion control. Partly because I wanted to lose some weight but also because my doctor said to ! So here's to eating more fruits and vegetables. It is working - I have lost weight and my health is doing better.
